There have several important national team selections for judoka from the club.
2017 Commonwealth Youth Games
Connor Wilson (U60kg) and Louis Saez (U90kg) will be with the Scotland team travelling to the Bahamas for the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games.
The BBC has some reporting on the team selections.
Judo is making its Commonwealth Youth Games debut at Bahamas 2017 games and it is a fantastic achievement for Connor and Louis to be selected as part of the first ever Commonwealth Youth Games Team Scotland Judo team.
Really well done guys! We are all incredibly proud of you!
2017 British National Team Championships
Closer to home, we have several club members who have been selected for the Scotland team competing at the 2017 British National Team Championships in Gillingham on 01/07/2017:
- Joseph Peden
- Katelyn Cox
- David Sommerville
- Rachel Towle
- Erin Peden
- Jamie Black
Another great achievement – representing Scotland in what will be a very tough competition.
2017 School Games
And, because our judoka aren’t busy enough, we have 7 folk who have been selected to travel to Loughborough with the Scotland team competing at the 2017 School Games over 31/08/2017-03/09/2017.
The Clyde Judo Club members of this team are:
- Rebecca Lamb
- Rachel Towle
- Ezri Bradley
- Connor Wilson
- Christopher Love
- Benedict MacLennan-Patton
- Louis Saez
Again, it is great to see our young athletes being selected to represent Scotland.
All that good news hides a lot of hard work over a long period on the part of the coaches and athletes.
Even those of us who didn’t get selected contribute, when we work hard in training (and we do!), we get better and we help the likes of Connor and Louis get better. Connor and Louis have done the really hard work but we all have a role to play in helping them reach the Bahamas and in cheering them on once they get there – Don’t forget that you can upload messages of support to the team on the Team Scotland supporters’ page
