Clyde Judo, GSB and Southside Judo support the Judo Scotland stand at “One Year to Go!”

Judoka from Clyde Judo, GSB and Southside Judo were out in force to support the Judo Scotland stand at “One Year to Go!” as part of the Glasgow Merchant City Festival.

This is about raising awareness of sport, sport participation and the Commonwealth Games due in Glasgow in 2014.

Members of the public were able to come along and “have a go” at a variety of sports (we were next to Weight Lifting and Lawn Bowls!)

As you can see from the photos below, quite a few took up the challenge.

Judo Scotland has also posted some photographs on its Facebook page.

Thanks to all of the Judoka, coaches and Judo Scotland for helping and organising the event.

Club meet with Bonnyton Judo Club – Friday 12th July 2013

This Friday evening (12/07/2013), Clyde Judo Club has been invited to visit Bonnyton Judo Club in Kilmarnock.

We’ll be visiting along with a couple of other Judo clubs so this should be a fun event for the children with the opportunity to experience different Judo styles and coaching.

Please meet at Bishopton Scout Hall at 6pm as usual and we’ll assemble into car pools for the trip down to Kilmarnock.

The Kilmarnock session will run from 7-9pm.

There will be no training at Bishopton on Friday evening.

Future competitions

It might be the Summer holidays but there are still some competitions that are worth attending.

Ultimate Rumble

First up is a competition for less experienced Judoka. The Ultimate Rumble will be held a Meadowbank on Sunday 25th August2013.

Entry is strictly limited by grade:

  • AA-band 6th Mon
  • A-band 9th Mon
  • B-band 12th Mon
  • C-band 15th Mon

Additionally, no National GOLD or SILVER Medallists or GRAND PRIX Champions can compete at the event

This should be a great beginners event and, as usual, you will need to get your entry in as soon as possible.

Lakeland Open

More experienced Judoka (B&C only) might like to try the Lakeland Open on 10th August 2013.

The club will be sending a team to this competition but please speak to Susie or David before entering, as this will be a tough competition.

Get your entry in soon!

Heart of England

Another competition for more experienced Judoka. This is the Heart of England competition on the 8th and 9th of September 2013.

The club will be sending a team to this competition but please speak to Susie or David before entering, as this will be a tough competition.

North West Open

This will be held 24th November 2013. These isn’t much detail available on the BJA event page but pencil the date into your diary. This is a tough event so speak to Susie or David before entering.

I’ll post some more future competition details in a couple of days but that should be enough for you to be getting on with.

As ever, early entry is recommended.
