Latest grading results

We are pleased to record the results of the recent gradings.

The children all worked very hard and earned their gradings. It takes a lot of effort and practice to complete the gradings.

So, well done all of you!

Paper-based and online entry are now available for the Clyde Challenge 2012.

So mark Sunday 7th October 2012 in your diary!

We are looking forward to seeing you there and it will be great if we can get a good Clyde Judo turnout.

There will be five competition categories:

  • AA-band, 6th Mon and below.
  • A-band, 9th Mon and below.
  • B-band, 12th Mon and below.
  • C-band, 12th Mon and below.

Full details about the competition and the links to entry forms and online entry can be found on the dedicated Clyde Challenge 2012 page.

Urgent newsflash! Tuesday training at Park Mains High School starts 21st August 2012

We’ve been subject to a very last minute change of plans and the move to Park Mains High School for Tuesday evening sessions will now take place on Tuesday 21st August 2012.

Apologies for the late notice.

We are trying to let everyone know by e-mail but it would be helpful if you spread the word – just in case we miss someone.

Starting on Tuesday 21st August 2012, Clyde Judo is moving to its new home for Tuesday evening training sessions.

We’re moving from Erskine Community Sports Centre just up the road to Park Mains High School.

As a result of the new venue, we’ve had to change the session times. Tuesday evening sessions will now run 1900-2030 (or, seven until half-eight in old money).

Paralympics Judo – Programme, TV and links

The Paralympic Judo competitions will run between Thursday 30th August 2012 and Saturday 1st September 2012.

The full competition schedule starts here.

Channel 4 will be providing the TV coverage of the Paralympics and they have a page here that has a great guide to the UK Judo team, videos and where you can find the action if you miss it first time round on one of Channel4’s broadcasts.

With over 400 hours of live coverage on the main Channel4 channel, More4 and three dedicated Freesat/Sky/Virgin channels (in HD and Standard Definition) plus replay via Channel4’s on demand service, there’s no excuse for missing any of the action. There are even iOS and Android mobile phone/tablet applications for keeping up with the action on the go.

Mini Belgian Trip Report

The team is back safe and sound from foreign shores.

From what I understand, a great time was had by all but the travel was hard.

Now that she’s had a chance to catch up on her sleep, Susie has sent in some photos.

No rest for the wicked – training on the beach

Judoka from Highland Budokan were also attending and Gary Edwards happened to be there on holiday. The whole Scottish contingent can be seen here.

And here’s the Clyde Judo contingent.

Clyde Judo team visiting Belgian Training Camp

A 10-strong team from Clyde Judo Club are off tomorrow to Koksijde in Belgium for a week long training camp.

The team will be guests of Judo Koksijde and we’ve always been given a great welcome whenever we’ve visited before.

The training consists of fitness training in the morning, the afternoon off for sightseeing and Judo training and randori in the evening.

There’s a webcam on Koksidje beach so maybe we’ll see the team enjoying a restorative ice cream in the afternoons.

A training camp like this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience different styles of Judo and the intensive nature of the camp is a good boost after a quiet Summer.
