Results – 2012 British Schools Championships – Sheffield 10/03/2012
Two competitions last weekend, so some very busy competitors and coaches.
We’ll cover the British Schools Championships first and there are some excellent results to report.
The competition itself was a large competition with 450 competitors from all over the UK and success at this level is quite an achievement.
Congratulations are in order for all of the medallists and also those who didn’t make it to the medal stage but still worked very hard for what they did. We saw some great Judo on Saturday.
- Rachel Towle representing Park Mains High School took Gold in the Y6/7 U32kg category. In what Susie described as, “Rachel’s best ever performance”, Rachel was a credit to her school and club.
- Marcus Ray representing Lomond School took Silver in the Y8/9 U55kg category. Another great result from Marcus. It’s hard to believe that he has only being going to competitions for about a year. Saturday’s performance demonstrated a maturity and capability that belies Marcus’s relative lack of competition experience.
- Benedict Ray representing Lomond School took Bronze in the Y6/7 U50kg category. Benedict took his Judo to a new level with this result. He really pulled out all of the stops to take bronze against some extremely tough opposition.
- Christopher Love representing Houston Primary School took Bronze in the Y6/7 U42kg category. A great result for his first competition in a new weight category. Despite the Y6/7 U42 competition being one of the longest competitions I have ever seen, Chris maintained his focus to bring home a medal against some very tough opposition.
Once the usual suspects have been rounded up, I’ll have some photographs from the event to post.
