We mentioned a few weeks ago that the club would be running a competition at the end of November 2011.
We’ve now sorted out all of the details and I’ll list them at the end of this post.
I’ll also put up a dedicated Clyde Challenge 2011 web page so that it can be the definitive source of information regarding the competition (rather than trying to hunt through old posts for some piece of information.)
Before I get into the details of the competition, I’d like to state what it is that we are trying to achieve.
As a club, we aim to support Judoka at all levels of skill and we feel that beginners or less-experienced players are not well supported on the competition circuit. That first step into competitive Judo can be rather daunting. It isn’t actually so but if you’ve never been in a competition then you wouldn’t know that.
For that reason, we’ve structured the competition into four separate sections:-
- Red belt only for age bands AA, A, B&C
- Yellow belt only for age band AA
- Yellow and orange belts only for age band A
- Yellow through to green belt for age bands B & C
We’ll use a less formal approach on the day for players in the less-experienced categories.
If you’ve never considered entering a competition before then this is the competition for you. You’ll be up against other Judoka of broadly similar skill levels even if you are a relative beginner. We hope that you’ll enter and give competition a try.
I promised details, so here they are…
